Letter to Senators

Sir,

I ask that you stand up for the enforcement of existing laws.

Many bloggers are quoting Theodore Roosevelt 1907 and Teddy "speak softly and carry a big stick" Roosevelt even made it into Garner's cartoon in the Washington Times (6-25-2007), again fitting for today and everyday when we look to the foundation upon which our policy and attitude of what is means to be a citizen should stand:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else,
for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt 1907

This new amnesty plan- and that is what it is- will provide loopholes for lawbreakers and terrorists. The enforcement of existing laws is important, for if we can not and will not do what we have already said we will do, there will be no trust left between the American people and those we have chosen to represent us to make laws to keep us safe.

There must be accountability. A former senator and good man, God rest his soul, once told me that if you want something done, the first step is to write a letter. That is what I am doing, in hopes that I will be heard along with the majority of the American people apposed to this bill, and those like it.

We want clear and concise legislation, in the same plain language of our Constitution- that can not be manipulated. Every bill should stand on its own, and not be filled with unrelated and hidden riders. Such corruption of a bill is exactly that, corruption. The American people must no longer be misled.

Between "North American Union" plans for superhighway from Mexico giving unsafe Mexican trucks free access to bring who-knows-what in to our country, amnesty for law breakers, health-care problems, social security problems, the threat of WMDs, Political Correctness, funding mismanagement, speech laws, gun laws (the Constitution is clear on those yet many states have "infringing" laws), imported poisons from China in our food and products that are not inspected, etc... I wonder what straw will break the camel's back. We need our representatives to stand firm for America, before America is overwhelmed.
